Three separate fundraising appeals have benefitted from events held at here Arc Shopping Centre, with a total of just over £5,500 being raised.

We nominated the My WiSH Charity, which supports the West Suffolk Hospital, as our charity of the year and during the past two years you have helped us to collect a total of £5,520.76!

The money has been used for the Every Heart Matters Appeal, which raised £500,000 to create a cardiac diagnostic unit; the WiSH Upon A Star Appeal, to further enhance the care for every child visiting the hospital; the general fund; and also £1,000 to the Butterfly Appeal, which is aiming to raise £340,000 to build a special garden area for end-of-life patients.

Many events were held throughout the year including an Ice Palace, a Toy Story themed picnic, an Under the Sea themed event where children learned about recycling and Party in the P'arc - a silent disco.

There was also events at Easter, Halloween and Christmas with between 250 and up to 600 families attending with buckets used to collect the funds.

We decided to support My Wish as it is a charity that is close to the hearts of many of its shoppers and staff and seemed a perfect choice for the fantastic work they do in the community.

Sam Parker, the centre administrator, said: "The My WiSH Charity team work so hard in our community and we are thrilled that we have been able to support them as our Charity of the Year in both 2018 and 2019.

“We raised over £5,000 which provided some much-needed funds to enable them to keep up their amazing work. We hope to work with them in the future, helping to donate just a little to such a big cause. It means everything to us at the centre; we are proud to be at the centre of our local community.”

Sue Smith, head of fundraising at My WiSH, said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with the Arc over the past couple of years. They have been so supportive and the events have been just brilliant. The Arc team work hard to enhance the experience of visitors to the town so working with us to help us enhance the care at the hospital goes hand in hand. We know this isn’t the end of our great working relationship and look forward to working together in the future.”
