arc Shopping Centre announces Bury St Edmunds Rickshaw as its charity of the year

arc Shopping Centre announces local charity, Bury St Edmunds Rickshaw, as their charity of the year for 2024/25!

The shopping centre will begin its partnership with BSE Rickshaw from the 1st of April 2024, raising awareness and funds for the local charity until March 31st 2025. Each year, arc chooses a local charity to support, and this year is no different.

The service provided by Bury St Edmunds Rickshaw is a valuable one, supporting the community in combating social isolation and helping local people who need a bit of extra help getting out and about in our beautiful town.

As part of their work BSE Rickshaw visit care homes on a weekly basis, offering free joyrides on their five Rickshaws – including one which can accommodate wheelchair users. The charity has 50 volunteers, with 35 currently active.

BSE Rickshaw also supports local food bank charities in getting valuable resources around town, such as Vineyard Church and Gatehouse, which is currently arc’s charity of the year for 2023/24.

arc will support BSE Rickshaw through fundraising at various events throughout the year, including with the return of their popular ‘A Bury Beautiful World’ workshops.

Talking of the partnership, Centre Manager Allan Hassell said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Bury St Edmund Rickshaw as our charity partner for 2024-2025. When it came to deciding on who we would support, BSE Rickshaw were at the forefront of our minds as a truly local charity doing marvellous work in our community which many may not be aware of.

‘Following a successful year working with Gatehouse and helping to raise their profile in the community, we wanted to shine a light on another fantastic Bury St Edmunds charity and help them raise valuable funds and awareness within the town. I’m excited for the beginning of another great partnership” he concluded.

Amanda Martin, Trustee and Volunteer Rider, said: ‘We are thrilled to have been chosen to benefit from this vital support which will keep our wheels turning and enable those less mobile in our community to enjoy all the different events which are held at arc shopping centre.’

The Centre already has a 2024-25 line up of events in mind to support the charity, with more details to be announced soon, plus a review of the past year with Gatehouse and the final total raised for them.
